Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to bring to you from the great state of Michigan, Natasha Laird, MD, FACOG! Dr. Laird is Board Certified and comes to us with three and a half years of post-residency experience. She started with the Practice January 26, 2010 at the Mercy Gilbert Office, taking call primarily at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. Dr. Laird graduated from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed her residency at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, in 2005. She has been most recently working as Attending OB/GYN at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, MI, where she has served on both the Credentials Committee and the Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Laird is ready to leave the bitter cold for the warmer, friendlier climate of the Valley of the Sun!

Dr. Laird wanted to be a cosmetologist when she was young, but steady viewing of The Cosby Show changed her mind. She was inspired to become either a doctor or a lawyer. As a 13 year old, she decided that a lawyer would probably have to read more ?boring stuff and so she thought medicine was the way to go. Little did she know that the summer reading list for doctors is just as long! She was fortunate enough at 15 to shadow a midwife. That experience exposed her to the wonderful world of OB and by the age of 16 she knew she would follow that path. Dr. Laird loves the joy of delivering babies, she loves the surgical aspect and she loves being of service to her fellow women.

We are in for a par-tay when Dr. Laird comes to town!! She loves to have fun, laugh and play. Dr. Laird currently lives with her brother and is helping him raise his four children after the passing of her sister-in-law. She is the ?fun auntie! She will take her kids (ages 8, 10, 11 & 13) out and spoil them rotten with a good time! She even has the Nintendo wii, with all the gadgets, and can frequently be caught playing Rock Band. She is determined to have the entire Practice learn the Latin aerobic workout Zumba. While making the decision to move to Arizona, a key element was being able to find a Zumba class here… No Zumba = No Dr. Laird… Luckily, she found places in the Valley that offer Zumba classes and is looking for willing participants to par-tay the Zumba way!

Dr. Laird is the youngest of seven—three brothers and three sisters. She has 10 nieces and nephews and even a great niece! Almost everyone is from Maryland (oldest sister is from Tennessee), and nearly everyone is still back there. She has plans to convert everyone to Arizona over the next few years! For starters, Dr. Laird will just be bringing her 3 ½ lb short hair Chihuahua named Chichi. Dr. Laird was drawn to Chichi when she saw the little runt flip a bully Chihuahua three times her size on his back. She knew she and the spunky little runt would make a great team!

If you want to get on Dr. Laird’s good side, shower her with Sour Skittles! Breakfast, lunch, dinner… before bed… midnight snack… anytime, day or night, is a good time for Sour Skittles. She has a massive DVD Collection. She loves Ren & Stimpy and other cartoons. Dr. Laird is… a Golden Girls junkie. Yes, she can even watch a Golden Girls Marathon! Which one is she most like? She’s not as dry as Dorothy, she is smarter than Rose, but not as sarcastic and bitter as Sophia…. Yep. You guessed it. Dr. Laird relates more to the spunky party animal Blanche. So get your Sour Skittles, Rock Band and Zumba gear ready and she will no doubt “thank you for being a friend!!”
